ZooLab's 2019 Highlights

Diane and Nicola's 2019 Highlights

We are fully licensed!

One of our biggest achievements was successfully licensing every presenter based in England, in line with the new animal welfare regulations which were released in October 2018. This was a big project taken on by our newly formed Animal Welfare & Licensing team, but one which allowed us to upgrade our equipment and policies and procedures, and really put the spotlight on this area of the company.

Our amazing team of presenters received excellent feedback from local authorities who especially commended us on the standards of our animal care and written documentation.

We care about staff development!

This year the spotlight has definitely been on staff learning and development. We became a Pet Industry Federation school, with the ability to deliver animal related City & Guilds qualifications in house to our team of presenters. This is an amazing achievement for us, not only does it allow our staff to gain new skills and develop their knowledge, but it also ensures the highest levels of care for our animals and peace of mind for those using our services! Our staff can now receive accredited qualifications from our team of qualified trainers whilst working with us - this makes us unique as no other company of our kind offers this level of development for staff at present.

We have also taken on a Learning & Development Consultant who is committed to providing personal development plans for every staff member, improving our offerings and making sure our people both in the office and out on the road deliver the highest levels of service with confidence.

We care about conservation!

We had another successful trip to Mankwe Wildlife Reserve in South Africa this year where 4 of our presenters traveled out to volunteer on site for 2 weeks. Activities included anti-poaching patrol, controlled burns, animal tracking, caring for a rescue zebra, emu, ostrich and more! This is a ongoing partnership and ZooLab are committed to continue supporting the reserve and the amazing work done here. We have already fundraised over £4000 for this cause, and counting!

We celebrate success!

Our company conference took place with great success in August 2019. We brought

together staff from across the UK for a weekend of workshops, sharing ideas, launching new initiatives and most importantly celebrating our success! It was fantastic having the full ZooLab family in the same place.
